Capital Command grew out of firsthand exposure to how difficult it is for public-safety departments to organize long-term capital needs, identify potential funding, and communicate that plan to the people who have to approve it.
Departments already know what they need: a new engine, a station repair, replacement turnout gear. The harder part has always been organizing that knowledge into something a department can act on: what it will cost, when it needs to happen, where the funding might come from, and how to explain all of that to a board or council that has to say yes. Capital Command is built to make that process clearer, not to replace the judgment of the people who do this work every day.

Justin Wood founded Capital Command after seeing firsthand how difficult it can be for fire departments and public safety organizations to plan for major purchases, identify funding opportunities, maintain critical information, and turn operational needs into plans that decision makers can act on.
Justin holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science from Lake Superior State University and has served in multiple areas of the fire service. His experience includes working with combination departments, serving as a full time career firefighter in South Carolina, and continuing to serve as a volunteer firefighter in Northern Michigan.
That experience exposed him to departments with very different staffing models, budgets, resources, and administrative capabilities, but many of the same challenges. Apparatus still needs to be replaced. Equipment still needs to be maintained. Grants need to be found and applied for. Budgets need to be justified. Long term needs have to be communicated to boards, councils, and communities.
His background outside the fire service includes business strategy, operations, real estate, and entrepreneurship, giving him a perspective that combines operational experience with financial and organizational planning.
Capital Command was created to bring those worlds together and give departments a clearer way to manage funding opportunities, apparatus and equipment, maintenance records, capital planning, and the information needed to make better decisions.
