Capital Command grew out of firsthand exposure to how difficult it is for public-safety departments to organize long-term capital needs, identify potential funding, and communicate that plan to the people who have to approve it.
Why We Built It
Departments already know what they need. The harder part is organizing that into what it will cost, when it needs to happen, where the funding might come from, and how to make the case to a board or council. Capital Command exists to make that process clearer.

About the Founder
Justin Wood is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Capital Command, an AI-powered funding intelligence and capital planning platform developed specifically for the fire service.
His professional background combines firsthand public safety experience with technology entrepreneurship, business strategy, organizational leadership, and commercial development.
A former career firefighter in South Carolina and currently a volunteer Fire Captain in northern Michigan, Justin has served in fire departments operating under different staffing structures, financial constraints, and community expectations. These experiences provided a firsthand understanding of the operational challenges facing municipal, combination, and volunteer fire departments.
Throughout his fire service career, Justin recognized a recurring challenge: departments often understand exactly what they need to protect their communities but lack the time, administrative resources, and financial intelligence necessary to secure funding and develop sustainable capital plans.
Apparatus replacement, personal protective equipment, communications systems, staffing, training, and facility improvements require significant financial commitments. Yet many departments must navigate fragmented grant programs, complex application requirements, and competing municipal budget priorities.
Justin founded Capital Command to help address these challenges through technology.
Beyond the fire service, Justin is an entrepreneur and business executive with experience co-founding and growing a technology company. His leadership responsibilities have included corporate growth strategy, sales operations, strategic partnerships, commercial negotiations, and organizational development.
This combination of operational public safety experience and executive business leadership shapes Capital Command's approach to product development and customer service.
Under Justin's direction, Capital Command is being developed as a comprehensive technology platform designed to bring funding intelligence, AI-assisted grant preparation, capital improvement planning, apparatus and equipment lifecycle management, and strategic financial reporting into one integrated environment.
Rather than replacing the expertise of fire chiefs, municipal administrators, or public safety professionals, Capital Command is designed to strengthen their decision-making capabilities through improved access to information, streamlined workflows, and long-term planning tools.
As Founder and CEO, Justin is responsible for the company's strategic direction, product vision, commercial development, industry relationships, and long-term growth.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science from Lake Superior State University.
His vision is to establish Capital Command as a trusted technology partner to fire departments nationwide—helping public safety leaders identify funding opportunities, justify critical investments, and build stronger, better-equipped departments for the communities they serve.
