Corporate & Strategic Partnerships
Partnering to strengthen the fire service.
Capital Command works with organizations that share our commitment to helping fire departments plan, fund, and sustain the resources their communities depend on.
Company Overview & Mission
Capital Command is a capital planning and funding intelligence platform built for the fire service, developed by Wood Capital LLC. Our mission is to give fire service leaders better information, better organization, and better tools to plan for long-term needs, identify funding that fits, and communicate those needs to the people who approve them.

Founder & Fire Service Experience
Justin Wood holds a B.S. in Fire Science from Lake Superior State University and has served as both a career firefighter in South Carolina and is currently a volunteer Fire Captain in northern Michigan, including in combination-department settings.
That experience showed him departments with very different staffing models and budgets facing the same challenges: apparatus needing replacement, grants needing pursuit, budgets needing justification, and long-term needs needing to be communicated to boards and councils. Beyond the fire service, he is an entrepreneur and business executive with experience co-founding and growing a technology company, which shaped Capital Command's approach of pairing operational experience with executive business leadership.
The Platform
An AI-powered platform grounded in each department's own data.
Capital planning
A multi-year view of a department's apparatus, equipment, and facility needs, organized by timeline, cost, and funding status, with replacement planning tied to each asset's real condition and service life.
Funding intelligence
Federal, state, and private funding programs are monitored and matched against each department's documented needs and eligibility, with a plain explanation of why a program may apply and what information is still missing.
AI-assisted grant preparation
AI drafts narrative language from a department's own on-file information. Every draft is marked as a suggestion until a person reviews and approves it — the platform supports fire service judgment rather than replacing it.
Procurement and reporting
Apparatus and equipment manufacturer directories, standardized requests for quotation, and board-ready reports help departments move from an identified need to an approved, funded purchase.
The Fire Service Opportunity
The U.S. fire service spans tens of thousands of departments — career, volunteer, and combination — serving communities of every size. Nearly all of them manage expensive, long-lived apparatus and equipment, depend on a mix of local budgets and outside funding, and must justify major purchases to elected boards.
Much of that work still happens in spreadsheets, binders, and institutional memory. Funding opportunities are spread across federal, state, and private sources with different cycles and eligibility rules, and smaller departments in particular often lack dedicated staff to track them. Capital Command is built to close that gap.
Long-Term Vision
- A single operating record for every department's capital needs, assets, and funding, kept current rather than rebuilt each budget cycle.
- Earlier, better-informed funding decisions, so departments can pursue the opportunities that genuinely fit their needs.
- Clear, defensible communication with boards, councils, and communities about what a department needs and why.
- A connected ecosystem in which manufacturers, funders, and public-safety partners can serve departments more effectively.
